Procedures for submitting ads electronically to the Yorktown PennySaver:

What to send

Fax a full-size laser print copy of the ad to 914-962-5123, to the attention of your account executive indicating:

• Type of file
• All art, fonts and indicate their placement - For All Ads - NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Insertion order/purchase order with section and zones where ad is to run i.e. Auto, Help Wanted, Going Out.
• Also you MUST include exact ad size as listed below in Ad Size Sheet and insertion date(s).
• The name and phone number of the person who created the file if there should be a question.

How to Send It

File Formats

• All files: MUST be Macintosh compatible with spot color or CMYK on 4-color weeks
• PDF: Adobe Acrobat, press-ready optimized
• QuarkXpress
• Illustrator
• MultiAd Creator
• InDesign
• Fonts: Adobe
• Image files (any graphics) : JPEG, TIFF - Please do not save full ads in these formats - placed images only

The company receives a large volume of ads digitally. While we attempt to process all files, we cannot be responsible if components are missing or if the material is received beyond deadline. The result may be that your ad will not run.

Procedure for Submitting Ad Copy

Color

• All 4-color ads/images MUST be submitted in CMYK.
• All spot color ads must be created using magenta or black. If a second spot color is to be used (covers only), it must be created in cyan. Our press will substitute the magenta with the ink color on our schedule for that week.

Black and White

• All black and white ads/image submitted MUST be in grayscale or black and white line art.
• When choosing black, use true black (100% K) not a mixture of CMY and NOT registration black.

Media

The following media are acceptable:

• Zip Disk
• CDRom
• 3.5 in. Floppy Disk
• E-mail

Fonts

• Embed ALL fonts, embed ALL images
• When sending files, make sure to include all fonts, both screen and printer fonts, as well as images.
• Font may also be converted to outlines or curves as an alternative

Text

• Reverse text MUST be at least 14 pts. (when using 2 or more background colors, pt. size should be more). Sans Serif font such as Helvetica (not Arial). Background color for the reverse MUST be either 100% Black, 100% Cyan OR 100% Magenta.
• Text under 14 pts. should be 100% Black.
• Black text MUST be set to overprint.

Graphics

• Images MUST be at least 200 dpi; do not download pictures or graphics from the web as they are only 72 dpi and when printed will appear rough around the edges.
• Ads submitted without borders will have one placed around them.

How to Submit

• Convert all ads into .pdf files when sending over the Internet via e-mail, but please include original file (if it is one listed above as acceptable) whenever possible. Embed all fonts and images.
• We also MUST have the name and telephone number of the artist who created the ad in case of problems with the file.
